Family-Owned, Community-Loved
Jewelry Worth Remembering
Beginning in the jewelry industry when he was 18 years old, Bobby Hosey has been a trained bench jeweler restoring treasured jewelry pieces and creating new ones for the Alleghany Highlands and surrounding area residents for over 50 years. He started off as a bench jeweler working for Glassner Jewelers in Covington and had his own shops on Main Street and Dry Run. Then along the way, Bobby and his wife, Laurie, managed Child’s Jewelers on Maple Street and he did trade work for many jewelry shops throughout VA, went to school to repair timepieces, and obtained his Graduate Gemology Degree from GIA.
In the early 1980s, Bobby and Laurie opened Designer's Den in Lewisburg, WV, for a few years, but when the building on Monroe Avenue became available, they jumped at the chance to return to their hometown.
Since 1989, Gray’s Fine Jewelry, Inc. has been a retail fixture in Covington, VA. Bobby has continued to provide stellar jewelry and timepiece repair, specializing in one-of-a-kind custom design, engraving services and eventually adding clock repair by Laurie.
In 2007, their niece Gray, for whom the store is named, joined the family business to help manage the day to day. Gray’s is still the Alleghany Highland’s provider for exceptionally beautiful bridal jewelry and top quality diamond, gemstone and fashion jewelry. Jewelry and watch repair are offered along with Bobby’s unique, one-of-a-kind jewelry.
